CO.STARTERS Spotlight: Kristin Rowan’s Memory Driven Children’s Clothing at Three Little Boos
Written By Maddie Steele
“Three Little Boos” is not only the name of Kristin Rowan’s children’s clothing store, but it’s the nickname she has called her three children for years. Her desire when starting this business was to bring children’s clothing into Jackson after seeing a need in the community. All the products sold in her store are brands she loves to dress her children in or that would put a smile on a mom’s face.
When her family moved to Jackson two years ago, she realized there was a shortage of children’s clothing stores, specifically for boys, so they began with a simple online store. However, soon they learned that the clothing brands are limited when the store is only online and isn’t a physical location. Before they opened their brick and mortar, their accountant recommended they attend CO.STARTERS at theCO. It provided them with a solid foundation to build their business upon. Rowan and her family have always approached this business very slow and cautiously, in order to be financially secure, but going through CO.STARTERS gave them the confidence of knowledge to open their brick and mortar.
“Take it slow and don’t just jump into anything,” advised Rowen. “When you start your business, there is really nothing you won’t do. You will go to any length to make it a success.”
Getting the word out through social media advertising has been the most difficult part of beginning their business because it requires so much time. Time is always the area of difficulty, says Rowen. Even if she isn't in the shop, her brain is still thinking about the business and what needs to be done. Any business owner would tell you the same, the brain space it takes up is almost like having another child.
Her main passion through the whole process of starting the business and watching it grow has been to meet a need in the community. A need for stylish and quality children’s clothes that can be purchased locally.
“It’s more about the memories than just the clothing,” says Rowen. “Everything in here is something I would dress my kids in and brands that I loved when they were young.”
