Made at theCO: ITX PC Case

We’re back again with another creative project by Michael Isaachsen, the former Community Manager here at theCO. Below you can follow along the process of making a ITX PC case using our laser cutter in the Makerspace. The project is for smaller PC components for people who want to make compact, but powerful builds. This process involved some trial and error, as well as some modifications of a design Michael found online. This project was one that brought Michael joy through the process of seeing his vision come together from start to finish.

Materials:

  • 3 sheets of 24in X 48in 1/8in MDF wood

  •  4 - 3/4in 6in hex bolts

  • 4 - 3/4in hex barrel nuts

  •  4 - 3/4in flat washers

Step 1:

Measure and cut your MDF wood into 12 x 20 pieces.

Step 2:

Upload your design file to the laser cutter, place MDF wood pieces into the laser cutter, and begin cutting it out.

Step 3:

Punch out your design after it has finished cutting. You’ll have several parts that need to be cut separately.

Step 4:

Fit all your pieces together and begin seeing the case come to life.

Step 5:

Place your hex bolts, hex barrel nuts, and flat washers into the holes.

Step 6:

Put the PC case on your computer and enjoy the finished product!
