3 Ways to Boost Your Biz with Pinterest
Do you use Pinterest? For most of us, that’s a yes. From planning parties to trying new recipes, we use this app to gather inspiration for all sorts of things. But let’s get more specific... do you use Pinterest for your business? If you’re like most entrepreneurs, Facebook and Instagram probably keep you pretty busy. But Pinterest isn’t just another social media tool to add to your to-do list, it’s a search engine that can reach far beyond your followers. There are so many ways you can use Pinterest to boost your biz, but today we’re going to focus on three tips to get you started. Plus, we’ll share a few local creators who are doing it well.
#1 Tell People Who (and Where) You Are
This one is as simple as it sounds. Use the bio section to share about your biz. Invite followers to interact with you and be sure to include a link. This is an important step to bring your followers beyond Pinterest. It will be hard to turn followers into customers if they don’t find their way to your website, Etsy, or Instagram. The same rule applies to your pins-- there’s nothing worse than finding a pin you love only to find a broken link.
An example of someone who does this well is Shop Happies— Allyson Johnson is an illustration artist located right here in Jackson. With one glance at her account you can see her business name, what she offers, a link to her Etsy page, social media handle, AND a discount code. She’s basically Pinterest goals.
#2 Don’t Be Afraid to Use Content From Your Other Platforms
This one can look a little different for everyone depending on what kind of business you’re in. Think about your industry, what makes sense, and where you’re already creating content. This might be a Facebook group, your Instagram feed or a blog post. You can often repurpose photos and copy you’ve written across multiple platforms.
Someone who does a great job at repurposing content is Katie Howerton. She needs no introduction here but her business Souvenear covers all things Disney and travel! With a quick visit to her page, you can see she doesn’t silo her content efforts, she pins blog content, merchandise from her shop, outfit inspiration and photos from her trips.
#3 Give Your Audience Some Inspiration
It’s good to keep in mind that many use Pinterest as a place to find ideas. Repurposing content can be the source of a lot of great pins, but consider expanding your strategy by creating Pinterest-specific content to inspire your audience. Along with pins, consider creating boards with a bigger theme that complements your business brand or service.
A local business that does this very well is White Oak Farms wedding and event venue in Medina. When browsing their boards, you’ll find so much more than just beautiful photos of their barn. They’ve created an event planner’s dream come true with boards ranging from party menus to quotes to decorate with. They have the perfect mix of photographs at their venue and event planning content that couples might enjoy when planning their big day.
Pins live much longer than your average social media post, so a little strategy goes a long way when it comes to boosting your biz with Pinterest. Thinking about giving it a try?
