CO:Member Spotlight: Brittany Crockett and Learning Patience
“I’ve been named the ‘prop master’ or ‘prop queen,’ depending on the day,” Brittany Crockett, social media and online content creator for Adelsberger Marketing, says with a laugh. “I never know what I'm going to end up building or resourcing from my daughter's dress-up closet.”
At Adelsberger Marketing, their mission is to support small businesses by developing their digital marketing, so when she’s not building a giant Flaming Hot Cheeto or a cardboard robot for video shoots, Crockett can be found creating online written content for local businesses around the Jackson community.
“Those are sort of the things that I like because I never know what I'm going to be doing, and that's what makes it fun—getting to be creative in different ways,” she says.
She says she’s grateful to work at a job that she enjoys coming into every morning because she knows finding this career path took her time and patience, and she wants to encourage others to not give up on what they love to do, even if it takes a few years to find it.
“For me, I graduated college almost fifteen years ago, and it took me a good almost fifteen years to find a job I really enjoyed doing,” Crockett says. “I know I'm blessed to have this job, but I also know it came with time.”
Working out of theCO and being surrounded by like-minded individuals of all backgrounds has also become a blessing for Crockett as she says she loves that she can be immersed in an environment that is both hardworking and creative, and she says that theCO has also become a supportive atmosphere for her to refocus.
“It's nice to be able to interact with other people, but it’s also nice to also have a space where you are not bothered if you don't want to be bothered,” Crockett says. “People know when you put your headphones on, you don’t want to be bothered, and if you could tell my eight-year-old that too, that'd be great,” she adds with a laugh.
Other than having a co-working space for entrepreneurs, Crockett says she and the rest of the Adelsberger Marketing team are grateful to be in a space that is built upon the same mission and purpose: supporting local businesses in Jackson. This is important to her because with being a proud Lambuth University alumna, Crockett strives to see the community she loves grow in numerous ways.
“I don’t think Jackson is the same town it was when I came here for college, and I think a lot of that has to do with the small businesses that have popped up and thrived here,” she says. “Shopping and eating local is actually a viable option now, and I think what makes having a local marketing business important is because we all want the same thing: to see Jackson itself thrive.”
