CO:STARTERS Spotlight: Lynne Hair Care

Patricia Santos knows all too well how frustrating it can be to spend money trying multiple hair care products only to come up short-handed. It wasn’t long after her son was diagnosed with eczema that she realized her options were slim and reading cosmetic labels only made things more difficult.

“I had heard a lot of great things about CO.STARTERS from those who had either gone through it or knew someone who had. I knew I had big ideas but really didn't know how to put them all together to be functional. The program not only helps you plan every detail of your business idea but it also gives you the connections and courage you need to get things started and to continually grow,” Patricia says.

It was with that courage that Patricia hit the ground running with Lynne Hair Care. She made her own hair products, built a website, and continues to regularly post educational blog posts. Topics range from how to spot cosmetic allergens to why you should stop using shampoo. She even has a mini-course with step by step videos on how to make your own hair butter.

Did you know, the job of a surfactant is to attach to dirt and grime, then slide off of the hair with water as you rinse? Thus, cleaning your hair. However, these chemicals are very drying to the scalp and also attach to the natural oils that are present and take them away as well. This is just one of the many tidbits Lynne Hair Care shares to help educate followers.

Since completing CO.STARTERS Patricia has continued to position herself as the expert. She has actually made her own hair oils and waxes and knows how to decipher good ingredients from potentially harmful ones. She’s continuing to adapt Lynne Hair Care to the needs of the customer by taking the guesswork out of what products are best for the head and scalp.

“I decided that I wanted to make my own products and be able to read labels better so I enrolled in a diploma for Natural Hair Care Formulation. I enjoy making products for my family and love to share my formulas, but I realize that not everyone has the time or desire to make them. This is when my consultation services were born. I now help others decipher which hair products and routines are best for their hair and scalp. I provide this service to anyone who needs help figuring out what products best fit their needs and goals. Especially those of us with allergies! I check all of the labels so that you don't have to,” says Patricia.

Over the course of nine weeks in CO.STARTERS, Patricia was happy to find a new kind of community: the entrepreneurial community, since she was surrounded by like-minded people who were also ironing out the wrinkles in their business ideas. In connecting with fellow entrepreneurs, she was able to find people whose skill sets could be valuable to her business, and got the opportunity to bounce ideas off of fresh minds.

“My biggest takeaway from CO.STARTERS was the connection with others. Receiving feedback was also very insightful! There are so many great ideas that you likely wouldn't have thought of on your own that are just waiting to come out of people. It is so awesome to have others insights and you feel so much more part of a community rather than a business trying to make money,” says Patricia.

So, if labels are leaving you confused and frustrated check out Lynne Hair Care’s one-on-one consultations at www.lynnehaircare.com.
