Happy New Year! (Almost.)
Yet another year has come and gone as if 366 days (Leap year, remember?) never stood between it. However, a lot can happen in a year, especially if you’re running a business. theCO wants to be the first to congratulate you and your business on all that you’ve accomplished. We also want to be the first to encourage those wishing their ideas would just take off: there is never a better time to start than now! We’ve been busy, but have you? A new year is the perfect chance to get your priorities straightened out and realize there are a lot of helpful resources right in your own backyard. These resources happen to live in a magical world called theCO!
As the theCO turns another year older, our network of professionals grows wiser and larger, too. Collaboration meetups, conference rooms, and an entrepreneur community unlike any other make theCO an ideal environment to meet with a mentor or expert in any field. Use us as your guide to getting your business off the ground.
Do you know someone whose ideas are unconventional, who does something out of the ordinary, or who has a business that’s interesting? Maybe they’re an innovator, maker, entrepreneur, pioneer, collector, or hobbyist—or perhaps they’re just struggling to get their business started. (Maybe that person is you.) If this sounds familiar, theCO wants to know! It seems like each week we are sharing about some of the amazing projects people are starting, and we want to help!
Every month theCO hosts a number of opportunities to learn a new skill to improve your business acumen. Here are just a few:
1. CO.STARTERS
CO.STARTERS is our six- to nine-week program that takes you through the facets of starting and running a business. We are currently taking applications for our next round of CO.STARTERS so check out our website for more information. We are also toying around the idea of hosting a shortened summer session of CO.STARTERS for those of you in a time crunch.
2. MakeShift
We’ll soon be adding a new lunch series to our February calendar called MakeShift. We want to help you start 2017 on your best foot. Maybe you’ll be inspired to make a shift in how you do things, but you will most certainly leave with action steps to move your business or project forward. Come to all four events or just pick the weeks that sound most applicable to where you are right now in business and life.
3. Weekly Meetups
As always, our free Tuesday meetups will continue into 2017. While Maker’s CO:llective (1st Tuesday) and our social media meetup CO:mmunicate (2nd) will remain the same, we have some exciting updates for the rest. CO:de (3rd) is now under leadership of Sodium Halogen’s Chance Smith, and Our Jackson Home will be taking over the 4th Tuesday spot in place of A.M. Creative/CO:conspirators. (Details to come.) Join us Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. to make January through December worth it—and invite your friends!
