Made at theCO with Jackson Pop-Up Shops
This month's Made at theCO feature showcases a few members' creations that were available at the recent Yuletide Jackson Pop-Up Shop. Our makerspace was put to good use as a number of vendors' items were produced here and apart of the collection of locally-made, hand-crafted goods at the seasonal shop. Below we highlight just a few of those items, along with taking a closer look at the various processes and tools used to make them.
Garner Blue - Earrings | Garner Blue began as an indigo-dyed textile project, but after experiencing increasing regional popularity and discovering the wonders of a laser printer, jewelry has become a celebrated edition in its own. Lisa Garner, Executive Director at theCO and Garner Blue founder, created simple vector designs of geometric shapes before cutting them out of Baltic birch wood and dipping them in all-natural indigo dye. The tasteful accent pieces pair well with leather to wool, and make for a sure-to-please gift whether it is the Christmas season or not. Shop her earrings and more here.
Souvenir Design Co. (Courtney Searcy) - Laser-printed cards | Resident designer Courtney Searcy introduced a line of laser-cut cards to her already-full slate of stationery, thank-you notes, and calendars that were at this season’s Pop-Up Shop. Courtney used theCO’s laser printer to finely cut text out of card stock and then layered vintage map prints underneath the design to create a way of saying, “hello” to distant friends that evokes a sense of both familiarity and wonder. Shop her stationary here.
Our Jackson Home - Short-sleeve tees | In addition to the newly released “Tradition” issue of their quarterly magazine, Our Jackson Home now has brand new short-sleeve tees available (available for purchase at theCO or online). Each shirt was manually screen-printed using theCO’s printing press on extra soft Next Level apparel that shows off their classic hand-scripted logo. These are perfect for celebrating our community and staying comfortable once the weather warms up.
